14th Anniversary, FIB UB Holds Cultural Word Award

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of Brawijaya University (UB) Malang once again held the 23th Sabda Budaya Award. The event, which took place on Saturday (9/2023/XNUMX), was an award event for artists and writers in East Java.

Carrying the theme 'Sasmitaning Praja, Janma Ning Pandhita, Memayu Hayuning Bawana', the existence of artists and writers in East Java is expected to be more noticed and recognized. The Sabda Budaya Award is expected to inspire artists and writers in East Java to continue to work, because they are invaluable national assets.

With their works, they have actually become an important part in preserving and becoming the guardians of the country's culture and heritage. Likewise, writers, with their works have contributed greatly to building the nation's civilization.

The dedication, struggle, and movement that has been carried out by traditional artists, literary writers, and cultural community groups in East Java are expected to always have a place in the hearts of the people and be able to inspire the younger generation, especially in East Java.

The Sabda Budaya Award is part of a series of events for the 14th FIB UB Anniversary, which in 2023 will be enlivened by various activities until Sunday (24/9/23). Including, the Rahwana Gandrung Dance Drama, the FIBMagz Grand Launching, a Cultural Oration by the Director General of Culture Hilmas Farid, MA, Ph.D., the Saung Angklung Mang Udjo Orchestra, and the culmination is the awarding of the Sabda Budaya Award to selected traditional artists, writers, and cultural community groups in East Java.

Not only that, this series of activities was also enlivened by the Career Expo, Beauty Class x YOU, and also the Inauguration of the Center of Excellence Supporting Facilities. The Sabda Budaya Award began with remarks from the Dean of FIB and the Chancellor of UB who also opened the event.

On this occasion, the Dean of FIB UB said that the Anugerah Sabda Budaya activity which was included in the 14th FIB UB Dies Natalies could be proof of FIB UB's real devotion to the community, especially to traditional artists, writers, and East Javanese cultural community groups who have contributed to preserving culture and civilization through their real works.

The event began with a speech from the Dean of FIB UB, Hamamah Ph.D., who initiated new changes and hopes for FIB UB as the Center of Excellence for East Java Cultural Reference Center in Digital form. Taking the jargon culturally enriching, scientifically excellence, FIB UB shows a new direction towards critical, humanistic and sustainable digital humanities.

All steps towards change that FIB UB has taken so far have been realized into digital works supported by national and international cooperation, and documented in FIBMagz, FIB's magazine which was also launched at this event.

The main event of the Sabda Budaya award is the awarding of traditional artists, writers, and cultural community groups in East Java which is decided based on the assessment of the curator board formed by the FIB UB team. The assessment is carried out through an in-depth curation process on the four main nominees that were selected.

Literature Category, Traditional Arts Category, Creative Process Incentive Category, and Fine Arts Category. For the Literature category, the Sabda Budaya Award was given to Muna Masyari, for the traditional arts category to Suwito, for the Creative Process Incentive category to the Kirun Arts Padepokan (PADSKI), and for the Fine Arts category to (the late) Teguh Sentosa.

The award ceremony held at the UB TV Studio was also attended by UB academics, educational institutions, government, and FIB UB partner companies, as well as artists, writers, and cultural figures in East Java. At the same time, the Rector also advised that this activity can continue to be carried out in the coming years.
