Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Approaching retirement, the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji and the Deputy Mayor of Malang Ir. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko said goodbye while reminiscing about the five-year journey of building Malang City at the Kotaku Thank You Night event at the MCC Floor 7, Saturday night (23/9/2023).
Mayor Sutiaji and Deputy Mayor Sofyan Edi delivered their final speech accompanied by the Chairperson of TP PKK Malang City Widayati Sutiaji and Deputy Chairperson I of TP PKK Ely Estiningtyas Sofyan Edi Jarwoko. "I am grateful, Mr. and Mrs. ASN helped us both to realize a commitment that we built. I built a commitment with Mr. Sutiaji, let's build a commitment and we intend to worship. Through this good opportunity, my wife and I express our gratitude to all of you," said Deputy Mayor Sofyan Edi.
Sutiaji and Sofyan Edi revealed that in five years of building Malang City, they did not walk alone. But thanks to collaboration and synergy with all elements, including the Forkopimda and hexahelix elements including banking and academics. "In this five-year journey, we have exercised our authority. We realize that there is still a lot of work to be continued in the future, we apologize," added the man who is often called Bung Edi.
Meanwhile, Malang Mayor Sutiaji expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the strength of all parties. "We started in 2018, in 2019 we organized starting from streamlining regional devices that had an impact on effectiveness and efficiency. Then in 2020 we were hit by the Covid-19 storm. It was suffocating for us but we were able to get through it well," said Sutiaji.
The bespectacled man expressed his gratitude to the Forkopimda, and the academic elements seemed to be united that we have the same vision, what we are facing is how we apply our humanitarian values.
"Learning from there, thank God, slowly but surely in 2020 our economy contracted, but we were able to rise. The twists and turns, the dynamics in making decisions, we understand that this is a process. This collaboration strengthens us all, let's improve our performance whoever the leader is. Just a sentence of apology, for five years maybe we have not been able to be good imams. There is homework that still needs to be continued," he added.
He said that building Bumi Arema is a memory that will always be stored in his heart. Sutiaji recalled the five-year journey by telling about achievements ranging from market revitalization, economic growth, flood management through the construction of drainage and culverts, digitalization of services and MPP and others. "Hopefully the devotion that we provide will not just end," he concluded.
On this occasion, the Forkopimda ranks who were present also expressed their appreciation for the leadership of Sutiaji-Sofyan Edi who together worked hand in hand to build the City of Malang. (yul/yon)
