Surabaya (malangkota.go.id) – East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa on behalf of the President of the Republic of Indonesia inaugurated the Regional Secretary of Malang Regency Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM as Acting Mayor of Malang at the Grahadi State Building, Surabaya, Sunday (24/9/2023) afternoon.
The inauguration of the Acting Mayor of Malang coincides with the end of the leadership of Drs. H. Sutiaji and Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko which falls on September 24, 2023.
The inauguration was attended by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Malang for the 2018-2023 period Sutiaji and Sofyan Edi Jarwoko, Chairman of the Malang City DPRD I Made Riandiana Kartika, SE and Regional Secretary of Malang City Erik Setyo Santoso, ST, MT as well as the Malang City Forkopimda as invitees.
This inauguration is based on the Decree (SK) of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 100.2.1.3-3920 of 2023 concerning the Appointment of the Acting Mayor of Malang which was signed by the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian dated September 22, 2023.
After the inauguration, Acting Mayor of Malang Wahyu Hidayat said that he would immediately take strategic steps according to the special message of the Governor of East Java for Malang City that Malang City has an important role in increasing the creative economy of East Java. "The first thing that will be done is of course related to the MCC which was inaugurated two days ago. So far, there have been many creative communities that have moved and have proven their existence in Malang City," said Wahyu.
He further said that during his term of office he would carry out the main tasks as directed by the Minister of Home Affairs and the Governor of East Java. Of course, the wheels of government will continue to run well, both in terms of service to the community and development through the Malang City APBD.
"I will also immediately coordinate with the regional apparatus and the Malang City DPRD regarding what strategic steps must be taken immediately to overcome the problems in Malang City. I need a lot of input, both from the legislative and executive so that in the future my steps will receive full support," he added.
Meanwhile, Governor Khofifah in her direction hopes that the Acting Mayor of Malang and his staff will immediately work to carry out the tasks and functions entrusted to them. According to her, the implementation of government tasks related to development and services to the community will continue to roll and be sustainable, and challenges and obstacles will come and go.
Governor Khofifah advised that the job memory handed over to each Acting Regent/Mayor must be a concern to maintain sustainable development and governance. "The handover of job memory that we do is also important to maintain sustainable development in each district/city, so that whoever the leader is, the planned development will continue to run well," said Governor Khofifah.
For information, based on the Decree of the Minister of Home Affairs which has been stipulated for the appointment of the Acting Mayor of Malang, it is known that the Acting Mayor of Malang has the duties, authorities, obligations and prohibitions of the Mayor in accordance with the provisions of regulations regarding regional government regulations.
However, in carrying out these duties and authorities, the Acting Mayor is also prohibited from filling positions and transferring employees, canceling permits granted by previous officials and/or issuing permits that are different from those granted by previous employees, making regional expansion policies, and making policies that are different from the development programs of previous officials. These prohibitions can be excluded after obtaining written approval from the Minister of Home Affairs.
The Acting Mayor is also obliged to facilitate the preparation of the 2024 Election and maintain the neutrality of the State Civil Apparatus, and is obliged to submit an accountability report to the Minister of Home Affairs through the Governor at least once every three months. (Ts/yon)
