ISPA Cases Increase, This is the Appeal of the Head of the Malang City Health Office

Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The current extreme hot temperatures or weather can disrupt the body's immune system and trigger diseases caused by dust, such as Acute Respiratory Tract Infections (ARI).

ISPA cases in Malang City are currently increasing. From data recorded by the Malang City Health Office (Dinkes), it shows that from January to July 2023, 43 thousand people have been diagnosed with ISPA. This condition is higher than in 2022, which only reached 56 thousand for 1 year.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Malang City Health Office, Dr. Husnul Muarif, Tuesday (26/9/2023). According to him, this was because it had now entered a hot weather or extreme weather condition, so that a lot of dust was flying.

"Dust can come from outside or inside the house. Therefore, preventive efforts to prevent the occurrence of the disease must be intensified. For example, if we do activities outside the house if it is not too important, do not try to stay too long or limit it," explained the bespectacled man.

If there are activities outside, Dr. Husnul advised to try to prevent dust particles from entering the body. Because it enters through the respiratory tract, the first is the nose. "When leaving the house, you should use a mask as protection," he said.

The effort was said to anticipate dust particles from entering the respiratory tract or nose. Although in the nose there are hairs that are useful as a defense of the body.

"But if it happens too often, it will escape, so it enters the upper respiratory tract, so there are complaints, sore, itchy, or maybe coughing. If it continues, the body's resistance decreases, additional symptoms appear. Such as complaints, there is flu, there is sneezing, sometimes the body temperature also rises," he added.

Husnul also appealed to people experiencing respiratory tract disorders to immediately contact or come directly to the nearest health facility (faskes), because currently the Health Center often receives complaints from patients with ISPA symptoms. (say/yon)
