Malang City Government Receives Working Visit from Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives During Recess

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) received a Working Visit (Kunker) from the Recess Period of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives in the Meeting Room of the Malang City Hall, Wednesday (4/10/2023). This visit was received directly by the Acting Mayor of Malang, Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM along with the ranks of the Malang City Forkopimda.

Acting Mayor of Malang Wahyu Hidayat said that the Malang City Government is grateful and appreciates the steps of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) which made Malang City a destination for a working visit during the recess period. According to him, this shows the DPR RI's attention to Malang City.

"Therefore, this afternoon I gathered all stakeholders related to the duties and functions of Commission X. The hope is that what Commission X is doing during this recess period can be fulfilled, and can include several draft laws as conveyed by the team leader," he said.

During this visit, Wahyu said that Commission X conveyed many things related to sports, tourism, and education. "There are several bills related to tourism, we were asked for opinions on hopes for tourism, because Malang City is considered as one of the barometers of Tourism City so we asked for input and hopes so that they can be facilitated and included in the law," he explained again.

Meanwhile, the Head of the DPR RI Commission X Recess Period Working Visit Team, Hasanuddin Wahid, M.Hum said that the Commission X working visit to Malang City this time was carried out in order to supervise the government implemented in Malang City, especially laws and regulations and budgets to see whether they were in accordance with their designation.

In addition, his party also absorbed aspirations, ideas and proposals from all Malang City residents, especially the government and stakeholders in three fields, namely the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, and Sports, including libraries.

"Absorbing aspirations, digging up as much data as possible for us to bring to meetings at Commission X after this recess," he said.

Hasanuddin also mentioned, in addition to visiting Malang City Hall, the Commission X group also conducted a field review of the Malang Creative Center (MCC) as an incubator that houses 17 creative economy sub-sectors in Malang City. He saw that the creative economy sector is an extraordinary potential owned by Malang City, with the phenomenon of the number of students almost balanced with the population.

"From there we also want to know whether it can be a new economic force in Malang City that can drive and develop the creative economy. That's why after this we have a field visit to MCC and a number of places that we think we can get input related to that," he concluded. (iu/yon)
