Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) gave achievement bonuses to athletes and coaches who brought glory to Malang City at the 9th East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov). Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM symbolically handed over this achievement bonus during the morning assembly in the front yard of Malang City Hall, Monday (10/2023/XNUMX).
The amount of achievement bonus for athletes who win gold medals is Rp32,5 million, silver medal winners Rp20 million, while bronze medal winners Rp15 million. Meanwhile, for sports coaches who achieve achievements get a bonus of Rp2,7 million per point obtained.
In the VIII East Java Porprov, the Malang City contingent won 206 medals and was ranked third under Surabaya City and Sidoarjo Regency. The medal haul consisted of 74 gold medals, 52 silver medals and 80 bronze medals.
Acting Mayor of Malang Wahyu Hidayat said that the bonus was a form of gratitude for the achievements that have been presented by athletes and the Malang City contingent who have brought a good name to Malang City. "This is a form of appreciation and attention from the Malang City Government for the achievements of the Malang City contingent athletes," explained Wahyu, Monday (9/10).
With the awarding of this achievement bonus, it is hoped that in the future it can further spur Malang City athletes and coaches to achieve more. Moreover, in 2025, Malang Raya will host the implementation of Porprov IX. "As the host (Porprov IX), Malang City certainly has more motivation. If in Porprov VIII it was ranked third, as the host of course it wants to be the first winner," said Wahyu.
As the host of Porprov IX, it was stated that Malang City will fully support efforts to achieve success in the biennial event. "The hope is not only to be successful in becoming the best in winning medals, but also to be successful in organizing it. Of course in 2024 we will prepare the budget and facilities and infrastructure," explained Wahyu.
In addition, he said that the multiplier effect as a host would definitely be felt. "Both in terms of sports, tourism, and economy can be lifted by the presence of Porprov IX. Currently, we continue to synergize to be able to prepare the best in Porprov 2025," concluded Wahyu. (cah/yon)
