Ministry of Communication and Information Holds Technical Guidance on ICT-Based Services, Invites Younger Generation to be Wiser in the Digital Era

Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Providing education and supporting the creativity of the young generation of Malang City and directing the high public interest in digitalization to positive and constructive things, the Malang City Communication and Informatics Service (Diskominfo) held a Technical Guidance for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Based Services entitled 'Fun and Healthy Gaming' at the Savana Hotel, Malang City, Wednesday (11/10/2023).

Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM who was present and opened the activity revealed that this technical guidance was the result of a proposal from the thematic musrenbang that had been carried out. "One of them is the impact of digitalization which can have a positive influence but can also give rise to negative things. That is why socialization and education need to be carried out," explained Wahyu.

Like games, he said that currently it can not only be used as a means of entertainment, but has developed into a livelihood. In fact, in Indonesia there are currently 140.321 people working in the national game industry.

"Even from Malang City itself, young people in Malang City have been able to create games such as Fairie Afterlight, Loading Story, and many other games that have gone global," Wahyu explained again.

The Acting Mayor of Malang said that the City of Education also has abundant resources that can support creative interests in games and applications. Especially with the presence of the Malang Creative Center (MCC) which is the home and support for 17 creative economy sub-sectors in Malang City, including games and applications. "On this occasion, I emphasize to the Communication and Information Service to continue to provide education to the community through routine and periodic socialization," said Wahyu.

Meanwhile, Head of Malang City Communication and Information Office Muhammad Nur Widianto, S.Sos revealed that the purpose of this activity is to introduce more closely and technically the potential of the creative economy of the game sub-sector. This is also a provision for the younger generation to build the right and healthy mental attitude in responding to technological advances, especially interacting with games in the digital era.

"As digitalization develops, the level of public literacy must also be increased. We are already very active in using the internet, of course it must be balanced with a reading culture or literacy," explained Wiwid, Muhammad Nur Widianto's nickname.
He added that what is worth being grateful for is that children have their own attention to the world of games and finally there is an awareness from the Children's Forum on how to use games to be something useful and constructive. "We deliberately present our resource persons from actors who have been involved in the world of games. Resource persons who are very productive and whose products have penetrated across countries," said Wiwid.

On this occasion, a psychologist from UIN Maliki was also present to help young people in Malang City analyze how to respond to games positively. This ICT-Based Service Bimtek was attended by participants from high school/vocational school students to college students. (cah/yon)
