Photographing the Voting Rights of the Young Generation in the Election

Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – In the 2024 Simultaneous Democratic Party, the votes of voters in the age range of 18-40 years will be fought over by legislative candidates and presidential and vice presidential candidates. The reason is that the voting rights of this young generation are more than 50 percent of the population who have the right to vote in this country, so the involvement of young people also determines the success of the 5-yearly democratic party.

The youth discussion at RBC was lively

This was conveyed by Muhammad Fadzryl Adzmy from the Center for Political Science Studies, University of Muhammadiyah Malang in a public discussion at the Smart Reading House (RBC) in Malang City entitled 'Young People in Politics 2024', Friday night (3/11/2023). According to him, young people who tend to be pragmatic must be accommodated well so that in the simultaneous elections they will be willing to come to the polling booth.

"I think all political actors involved, whether from political parties or legislative candidates, will all try to embrace issues about young people in issues that will be very strategic in 2024," he said.

A similar statement was made by Report researcher Veria Unisela. According to her, the needs or concerns of these young people must be answered and fulfilled by the prospective leaders of the nation who will contest. Such as equalizing education and fulfilling employment opportunities so that these young people do not feel that they are only being used to gain votes.

"Well, when you are unable to make aware or cannot say gain votes from new voters, yes, it can be said that these voters can be chaotic. In rough language, the ending is like that, because the votes of new voters will have a big chance of determining who wins and who doesn't," he explained.

One of the young people, Yogi Saputra Alaydrus, admitted that he was optimistic that the democratic party would run well. According to him, currently many young people are advancing in political contestation. So that the great hope to accommodate what the young people need can be realized later.

"I am very optimistic about current politics. because I see that current politics is owned by several groups. There are old people and also young people and this also has a very complex condition that occurs in the 2024 election politics," he said.

This condition is a challenge for the future leaders of this nation and strengthening political education is something that must be done. Don't let these young people be apathetic towards politics because they are also future leaders. (say/yon)
