Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa attended the Sapa Pilar Kesejahteraan Sosial Daerah of the Coordinating Agency for Regional Government and Development III of East Java Province in Malang (Bakorwil III Malang) which was attended by approximately 2.124 social participants from various elements at the Ken Arok GOR, Malang City, Saturday (11/11/2023). The event initiated by the East Java Provincial Social Service was also attended by the Acting Mayor of Malang, Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM along with other invited guests.

Governor Khofifah in her speech appreciated the role and performance of the social welfare pillars that have played an extraordinary role. "Thank you to the Disaster Response Cadets (Tagana), Karang Taruna, Family Hope Program (PKH) Companions, Sub-district Social Welfare Workers (TKSK) and Community Social Workers (PSM) who have been the extension of the East Java Provincial Government in reducing extreme poverty rates," she said.
Governor Khofifah added that these social pillars are the closest spearheads to the community. This is evident from the struggle to reach the community and develop national and East Java priority programs, disaster management, both natural and social disasters, as well as mitigation to recovery. "This can run well thanks to the role of all of you," said Khofifah.
From data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) for the period March 2021 - March 2023, the poverty rate in East Java experienced a very high decline, which was 383.920. Likewise, extreme poverty decreased from 1,56% in September 2022 to 0,82% in March 2023. Since March 2022, extreme poverty in East Java has also decreased below the national extreme poverty rate.
Even the economy of East Java also managed to grow impressively above the national level, which was the highest in Java at 1,79% in the third quarter of 2023. This is real evidence of East Java's success. "This success certainly cannot be separated from the support of all. Especially the decline in extreme poverty in East Java has also fallen drastically," said Khofifah.
On this occasion, Khofifah also reminded that the pillars of social welfare also carry a mission of independence, namely a spirit that can motivate aid recipients to continue to improve their quality of life.
"The social pillar does not just channel social assistance but also humanitarian values. The spirit of the social pillar is extraordinary. This is a social investment for people in need so they can live independently," explained Governor Khofifah. (cah/yon)
