Breadfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM attended the Karang Werda Danan Joyo Elderly Celebration event in Sukun Village at Swallow Park, Sunday (12/11/2023).
Wahyu expressed his pride that the elderly in Malang City remain productive and have enthusiasm in their activities. "The Malang City Government pays special attention to the elderly. We understand that the elderly experience a decrease in activity. That is why this kind of elderly celebration provides benefits so that the elderly can be active and have something to do," explained Wahyu.
Acting Mayor of Malang said that elderly who are active in activities will look younger than their age. "Because there is interaction, communication, meeting the community, there are sports activities, healthy walks, gymnastics, recreation and many more. Finally, this is what has a good impact on the health of the elderly," he explained again.
The number one person in the Malang City Government also hopes that Karang Werda can be an effective forum to encourage the elderly to remain active and empowered. "Karang Werda is a good forum for the elderly to continue to be active. My message is, stay enthusiastic, healthy, and do various activities and be active," he said.
Meanwhile, a member of Karang Werda Danan Joyo Sukun Vemi Inarida admitted that she was happy with the many activities for the elderly in Taman Walet. She said that this could be a way to fill her free time. "Alhamdulillah, I am now 68 years old, but I am still healthy and active. We are grateful that we have Karang Werda Danan Joyo who have been very active," said Vemi.
Karang Werda Danan Joyo itself is now one year old and has had so many activities. Be it weekly group exercise activities, cultivating plants and vegetables, and other activities that are very fun and full of togetherness. (cah/yon)
