Secretary of the Malang City Health Office, Dr. Umar Usman said that this activity was carried out as an effort to realize a joint commitment to optimize participant coverage in order to maintain Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and improve the quality of health services.

"Through this activity, it is expected that the quality of health services in Malang City can improve, and also ensure that the people of Malang City can get health protection. In addition, it is also expected that all levels (in the Malang City Government) are committed to optimizing the achievement of UHC Malang City," explained Umar.

Responding to the achievement of UHC in Malang City, the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City, Erik Setyo Santoso, ST, MT., said that the Malang City Government has now succeeded in meeting UHC, the figure of which continues to increase. As of October 2023, the UHC achievement reached 108,54%, which was obtained from the comparison between the number of JKN-KIS BPJS Kesehatan Malang City participants and the population per semester I of 2022. "This means that the people of Malang City can access health services and the need for quality and effective promotive, curative and rehabilitative health services," explained Sekda Erik.

However, Erik reminded not to be satisfied with the current UHC achievement. Therefore, he asked all levels of the Malang City Government to continue to commit to improving the quality of public health, especially the achievement of UHC to reach 100%.

In this regard, Erik instructed all regional apparatuses to optimize the provision of budget for contribution contributions, ensure access to HR services, facilities and infrastructure and IT, strengthen the quality of health service facilities. "The next step is to synchronize the follow-up policies of Presidential Instruction No. 1 of 2022, strengthen stakeholder synergy in the JKN program, and finally strengthen the interoperability of information systems and data integration with PJS Kesehatan," he added.

"Keep in mind, UHC will not be achieved if it is not balanced with the quality of health services. Therefore, I advise you to synergize to strengthen health insurance and services for all residents of Malang City," concluded Erik. (iu/yon)
