HIV/AIDS Prevention Needs Support from All Parties

Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – As an effort to control and prevent HIV/AIDS and STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections) in Malang City, the Malang City Health Service (Dinkes) held a Technical Coordination Meeting (Rakortek) involving regional apparatus (PD) within the Malang City Government (Pemkot), health service facilities, and HIV activist Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) at the Savana Hotel, Thursday (16/11/2023).

Technical Coordination Meeting (Rakortek) for the control and prevention of HIV/AIDS and STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections) in Malang City

Head of Disease Prevention and Control of the Malang City Health Office Meifta Eti Winindar, SST, MM revealed that it takes the role and support of all parties to overcome HIV/AIDS. He said that there were three outputs from this coordination meeting. "The first output targeting regional apparatus is related to the support of regional apparatus in our efforts to eliminate HIV in 2030. Because the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has mandated the elimination of Dengue Fever (DB), HIV, Hepatitis B and also Malaria in 2030," explained Meifta.

Malang City, Meifta emphasized, supports this. So, ahead of World AIDS Day which is commemorated every December 1, they are trying to provide a framework consisting of three aspects. "First, from the aspect of the regional apparatus itself. What are the views related to HIV prevention? What has been done? And what are the future plans to welcome HIV elimination in 2030," explained Meifta.

Second, Meifta is said to be a class of health service providers consisting of hospitals, health centers, clinics that are already PDP (Care, Support, and Treatment) that have received training to be able to carry out governance, recording, reporting, as well as treatment and screening for HIV.

"So from this health service class, the expected output is input related to what needs to be improved, then what support has not been provided by the Health Service, and so on," he explained again.

Meanwhile, for the NGO class consisting of communities and institutions that support HIV, Meifta said that the Health Office accommodates all parties who have helped, both from IWAMA, Paramitra, Netral Peer Support Group (KDS), Sadar Hati, IGAMA, SSR Fatayat NU, and others.

"We will ask for their input. What form of support have they done so far for the HIV/AIDS prevention program, which of course has been a lot. But they need to provide input to us in the regional apparatus and health services so that the program for HIV/AIDS services in the future can be even better," he said.

In this coordination meeting, a joint discussion session was also held to obtain inputs that will become priority programs for handling HIV/AIDS in 2024. (cah/yon)
