Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – In order to instill disaster knowledge from an early age, Tunjungsekar Village held a Disaster Response Socialization and Training activity for Children in the Tunjungsekar Village area at the Multipurpose Hall of the Tunjungsekar Village Office, Thursday (16/11/2023).
Tunjungsekar Village Head Subhan Effendi, ST said the activity attended by 79 early childhood education (PAUD) students was carried out as an effort to instill an early disaster response attitude to children in the Tunjungsekar area. "With this activity, it is hoped that these children will understand what to do when an earthquake occurs," he explained.
Adding, Head of Prevention and Preparedness Division of Malang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Dra. Khabibah, MM said that the purpose of this activity is to train children related to disaster preparedness, especially earthquakes. This is because earthquakes often occur in the Malang area so children need to be equipped with knowledge to anticipate them.
"We from BPBD often receive invitations related to disaster anticipation and management. The goal is so that knowledge of disaster anticipation can be owned by the wider community, including children," said Khabibah.
Khabibah hopes that all parties can have basic knowledge of what should be done before, during, and after a disaster occurs. This is to minimize the impact that may be caused by the disaster itself.
"Hopefully all levels of society, from children to the elderly, have an understanding of how to deal with possible disasters so that they can cope with them," he concluded. (iu/yon)
