Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – In order to control inflation, stabilize food supply and prices, the Malang City Food Security and Agriculture Service (Dispangtan) in collaboration with BUMN, Perumda Tunas, and farmer groups again held a Cheap Food Movement in the front yard of the Kedungkandang District Office, Friday (17/11/2023).

Head of Dispangtan Malang City Slamet Husnan Hariyadi revealed that this cheap food movement is the fourth time. "In Kedungkandang District, this has been implemented twice, previously it was also implemented in Mulyorejo and Merjosari Villages," said Slamet.
Various food products sold include rice, chicken eggs, red chilies, sugar, cooking oil and salt. "We will continue to carry out activities like this to intervene in prices along with the increase in the prices of several goods, especially the price of basic necessities," explained Slamet.
Through the Cheap Food Movement which provides various essential commodities at cheaper prices, it is hoped that it can ease and help the community and prevent panic buying in the community due to the increase in basic necessities.
The Cheap Food Movement received a good response from the residents of Kedungkandang. One of them was Sumiati who admitted that she was happy and the price of the staple food sold was indeed cheaper compared to the price on the market. "Unfortunately, the purchase is limited, so I can't buy much," explained Sumiati.
In line with Sumiati, Winarti admitted that the prices of basic necessities such as rice, eggs, and cooking oil sold in the yard of the Kedungkandang District Office are indeed cheaper. "We hope that this Cheap Food Movement can be implemented every day by the Malang City Government. This really helps us," said Winarti. (cah/yon)
