Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – Until now, the progress of the revitalization of the Wilis Book Market has reached 80 percent and continues. The book market on Jalan Wilis is targeted to be completed in December 2023. With a good building, the Wilis Book Market will also become a center for literacy activities.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Cooperatives, Industry and Trade Service (Diskopindag) of Malang City, Eko Sri Yuliadi, when met, Saturday (18/11/2023). He said that the Wilis Book Market will be equipped with various public facilities.
"So the Wilis Book Market will not only be a place to transact, but will also have many benefits for the community. Later we will install WiFi, then there will be a reading place, then we will hold events related to literacy. Later we will definitely do it and we will organize it in 2024," explained Eko.
In 2024, Eko said at the Wilis Book Market that there will be further improvements, if it is prioritized, there will be additions and other improvements. "We will make improvements according to the leadership's instructions, including raising the rolling door to ensure security. In addition, we will also program a discussion room," he said.
However, Eko emphasized that all of that is still waiting for instructions and approval from the Acting Mayor of Malang, especially regarding the budget. "We have submitted, but still have not received an answer for the second stage of repairs," Eko explained. (say/yon)
