Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – The short film entitled 'Beside You' and infographics by the Mbois Ilakes Community Information Group (KIM) were selected as the best in the Short Film and Infographic Competition with the theme 'Preventing Stunting is Important' held by the Malang City Communication and Informatics Service (Diskominfo).

Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM expressed his pride in the young talents of Malang City, especially since their creative abilities can be used as educational media for the community. He conveyed this when attending the Awarding of the Short Film and Infographic Competition at Mopic Cinema Malang, Thursday (23/11/2023).
According to Wahyu, education is one of the strategies to eradicate stunting, so it must be packaged as attractively as possible so that the message can be conveyed well. Appreciation was also given for the organization of this competition. "With this media (short films and infographics), it is certainly more popular, especially for millennials so that they will be able to educate to work together to deal with stunting so that the future of our children, the next generation, can be free from stunting," he explained.
Acting Mayor of Malang said that handling stunting is important, one of which is in order to welcome Indonesia Emas 2045. It is hoped that in 2045 the Indonesian nation will have quality human resources so that stunting prevention must be carried out from now on. "If we don't control and stop stunting now, what will Indonesia be like in the future," he said.
Furthermore, Wahyu said that stunting will not only affect physical development but will also have an impact on children's cognitive abilities. "With free stunting, the quality of Indonesian people will certainly be better. Hopefully, this short film and infographic competition can spur and trigger the eradication of stunting in Malang City," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Malang City Communication and Information Service, M. Nur Widianto, explained that the implementation of this competition was not only an effort to improve communication, information, and education related to stunting, but also as a means to involve young people and KIM in Malang City to develop their creative talents.
This competition was in fact very popular with the people of Malang City. Dozens of participants participated. "There were 78 short films sent to us, then based on the administrative selection there were 52 participants who passed. Then we conducted an assessment and selected 10 nominees. For the infographic competition, there were 31 works collected and six nominees were selected," said the man who is familiarly called Wiwid.
The awarding of prizes to the winners and nominees was handed over by the Regional Secretary of Malang City, Erik Setyo Santoso, ST, MT, representing the Acting Mayor of Malang. The winners of the Short Film Competition, respectively, were Di Sampingmu by Bhekti Setyowibowo, Bocah Cilik Ngimpi Gedhe by Mutiara Ramandha Rizkiya from SMPN 1 Malang, and Rujak (Rumpi Bijak) by Sifti Rizky Puspitasari. Meanwhile, for the winners of the Infographic Competition, the works of KIM Mbois Ilakes (Blimbing Village), KIM Nukus (Sukun Village), and KIM Gerabah (Penanggungan Village) were selected as the best three.
