Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – As an effort to cultivate young talents, the Malang City Government (Pemkot) through the Malang City Youth, Sports, and Tourism Agency (Disporapar) held the Malang Acting Mayor Cup Futsal Tournament which was held for three days from November 24-26, 2023 at the Ken Arok GOR, Malang City.
The head of the event committee, Sugito, said that the futsal tournament was attended by 48 teams consisting of elementary and MI students throughout Malang Raya. Participants were divided into two teams according to age categories, namely 24 teams for KU-10 and 24 teams for KU-12.
"We held it for three days because of the high enthusiasm of the participants, even those from the furthest Poncokusumo District, also from Gondanglegi," he said.
Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM when reviewing the implementation of the tournament on the second day of the event expressed his appreciation for the tournament. According to him, a tournament like this is important to be held as part of coaching and to filter young talents who can later make the name of Malang City proud.
"This is a good event, a collaboration between Disporapar and futsal observers to foster young seeds who love futsal. This is also aimed at fostering the younger generation," he said.
Wahyu added, the age of the participants who are still young is a potential, so they must be directed and guided. Wahyu hopes that with serious coaching, later these futsal athlete seeds can have good achievements and can make Malang City proud
"I appreciate Disporapar who has held many events like this. Indeed, it must be done often to maintain the quality of its own athletes with the help of KONI and KORMI. Hopefully, there will be many futsal athletes from Malang City who have achievements, both at the city, provincial and national levels," he concluded. (iu/yon)
