Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) through the Food Security and Agriculture Service (Dispangtan) handed over assistance of 4.862 chili seeds to urban farming groups, farmer groups and women farmer groups as an effort to control regional inflation. Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM symbolically handed over seed assistance to representatives of farmer groups at the Tlogowaru Fish Seed Center (BBI), Tuesday (28/11/2023).

In addition to the distribution of aid, the Malang City Government also initiated a joint planting movement for chili seeds in order to provide food supplies at the household level as a real manifestation of commitment to encourage community empowerment related to the diversity of food consumption based on local resources.
"The city government provides assistance in the form of chili seeds, at the same time the price of chili is currently quite high. So the hope is that by providing chili seed assistance to this farmer group in the future the results can also reduce prices.
This is one of the interventions of the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) in suppressing inflation, including fish farming," he explained. In addition, this activity is part of the steps and efforts of the Malang City Government to encourage empowerment and invite the people of Malang City to jointly strengthen food security from the smallest scope, namely households.
One form of empowerment promoted by Dispangtan is to apply the concept of urban farming or urban agriculture by utilizing empty land which can increase physical access because it shortens the distribution process and can increase household economic access.
"In addition to providing this intervention, we also continue to intensify cheap markets. In five sub-districts, we continue to provide basic necessities such as rice, sugar and others. The city government together with TPID are working together with various parties to suppress inflation in Malang City," he concluded.
In addition to chili seeds, on this occasion Dispangtan also provided assistance in the form of planting media, manure and NPK fertilizer. In addition, there was also assistance in the form of 20 liters of liquid biological fertilizer from Perumda Tunas and assistance in the form of 5.000 seeds from Bank Indonesia Malang. (yul/yon)
