Malang City Government Discusses Traffic Engineering in Kayutangan Area

Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) together with the Traffic and Road Transportation Forum (FLLAJ) held a coordination meeting in the Malang Mayor's Meeting Room, Saturday (2/12/2023). One of the things that was captured was the discussion of traffic engineering management and road transportation in the Kayutangan Heritage area which is currently in the spotlight.

Coordination meeting of the Traffic and Road Transportation Forum (FLLAJ) in the Malang Mayor's Meeting Room

Head of the Malang City Transportation Agency (Dishub), R. Widjaja Saleh Putra, said that this coordination meeting was a follow-up meeting to the previous meetings held together with the Traffic Forum.

"There are several things that we need to decide immediately. But there are also several things that we feel we need guidance from the Acting Mayor of Malang for his decision," he explained.

The man who is often called Jaya added that in the coordination meeting that had been held, there were six traffic engineering studies in five sub-districts that had begun to be prepared since 2022. However, on this occasion, Jaya admitted that the coordination meeting focused on arranging traffic flow in the Kayutangan Heritage area.

Responding to this, Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM said that his party had received several aspirations from the community, especially related to traffic flow and also regarding parking areas in the Kayutangan area.

Wahyu said that of the several aspirations that came in, of course not all of them could be accommodated directly by the Malang City Government. "Because we also need input from experts and related parties. Later, please have input from everyone, so that what we decide is truly based on the results of meetings and discussions from the Traffic Forum, not because of the unilateral wishes of the Malang City Government," he explained.

Wahyu hopes that this problem can be resolved soon, considering that the impact of traffic flow in the Kayutangan Heritage area also has an impact on other areas around it.

"Hopefully we can restore nature and purpose by making the traffic flow in the Kayutangan Heritage area one-way to maximize the road and reduce congestion," he concluded. (iu/yon)
