This was conveyed by the Chairman of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) of Malang City, Agoes Basoeki, Saturday (9/12/2023). According to him, the increase was not much different from last year, but the increase was quite significant.

"There are several issues that affect the occupancy rate. First is the weather factor, considering that it is currently the rainy season. Of course, that will affect tourists to spend their end-of-year holidays," added Agoes.

In addition, the issue of increasing Covid-19 cases abroad, such as in Singapore, also has an impact. Actually, this is not a concern, but the dynamic information from the media can certainly affect tourists to some extent. "But hopefully this will not have a big impact," he explained.

Agoes further said that later there will likely be hotels that are fully booked, but there are some hotels that may only be half full. "However, we estimate that in mid-December the peak of tourists making reservations. The peak occupancy is estimated to be on D-1 of the new year," he concluded. (say/yon)
