Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Mother's Day is celebrated on December 22nd. But on Saturday (16/12/2023) in the Polowijen Cultural Village (KBP) it preceded the Mother's Day. Dozens of mothers wore kebaya buns and dozens of children dancers also wore kebaya and jarik uniforms, including parents.

This activity was held in collaboration between Perempuan Bersanggul Nusantara (PBN), Yulia Maria Salon and Professional Make Up Artist. The event was packaged in the form of a tutorial for children to make up their own mothers and a tutorial on wearing simple buns for children.
The essence of the event, how the commemoration of Mother's Day is filled with a string of words for mothers. Suddenly the atmosphere flooded with tears and sobs on stage after the tutorial was finished. The children took turns saying Happy Mother's Day along with prayers.
In his speech, the initiator of KBP Isa Wahyudi or familiarly called Ki Demang said that culture will be maintained if women are empowered, therefore we encourage women's groups to actively re-explore culture and express it through various media. Ki Demang asked the General Chairperson of PBN to oversee regional traditional clothing to become a characteristic and marker of culture.
The event continued with various expressions starting from mothers dancing Beskalan Putri Malang and children dancing Topeng Ragil Kuning. In addition there were performances of Remo dance, Gambyong dance, and various other traditional creative dances.
Appreciation of the children's make-up for mothers and how to wear a bun as well as the kebaya fashion show for children and mothers is a separate assessment. This appreciation is a form of love for mothers in commemoration of Mother's Day with the theme 'Empowered Mothers, Maintained Culture'.
Meanwhile, the General Chairperson of PBN, Sany Repriandini, admitted that he was determined to advance Indonesian culture and one of them in Java by taking part in forming a community of millennial bun-wearing teenagers so that they would know the typical regional clothing which could be a matter of shared pride.
"In the future, we will hold an audience with regional leaders in all cities to review and determine the traditional clothing of each region, which has so far deviated from the original rules," he said.
This time it is necessary to consolidate for women movers from various elements to realize the ideals of equality and empowerment to strengthen so that culture does not fade. One of them is regional clothing such as kebaya, which must be worn more often at various events, the momentum is used and used properly.
"These regional traditions and clothing are included in the creative economy for crafts and fashion including performing arts which have the potential to create jobs, so that these women can be more empowered to preserve the nation's culture," added Sany.
In the Mother's Day Commemoration event at KBP, all participants enjoyed the cooking of mothers who brought their own provisions from their respective homes. On that occasion, Yulia Rahmawati as a resource person for make-up artists who has shared her knowledge at KBP twice felt happy to be involved in the commemoration of Mother's Day.
For her, this is a valuable experience because she can be involved in the cultural village community which has made her give more tutorials from hotel to hotel. "I am happy and proud to be able to share knowledge here, the atmosphere is different in KBP, there are many beautiful dancers, make-up artists to support their performance when performing in performing arts, competitions and being able to show their class," explained Yulia.
She added, this is a challenge that needs assistance from mothers and children about being able to make up each other and it will be more effective and efficient if one family is involved. Yulia also wants to serve in KBP as well as this is part of an effort to maintain culture. (say/yon)
