Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daop 8 Surabaya recorded the highest number of long-distance train ticket reservations departing from Malang Station ahead of Christmas 2023 on December 23, 2023, which is also predicted to be the peak of welcoming the 2023 Christmas celebrations.
On that date, 5.456 long-distance train passengers were recorded as traveling from Malang Station or 96% of the capacity of 5.690 tickets provided per day.
Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 8 Surabaya, Luqman Arif, said that as of Sunday (17/12/2023), the number of ticket orders from 21-25 December was recorded at 23.492 customers or 83% of the total 28.450 tickets.
"Customer favorite trains are dominated by destinations to Solo, Yogyakarta, Semarang, Jakarta, Bandung, as well as Jember and Banyuwangi," he said.
During the 2023/24 Christmas and New Year transportation period starting from December 21, 2023 to January 7, 2024 or for 18 days, KAI Daop 8 Surabaya will operate 12 long-distance trains departing from Malang Station, consisting of 10 regular long-distance trains and two additional long-distance trains.
As of Sunday (17/12/2023), the total number of long-distance train ticket reservations during the 2023/2024 Christmas and New Year period in the KAI Daop 8 Surabaya area was 169.070 customers or 40% of the capacity provided of 422.676 tickets.
The public can access the development of ticket availability through the Access by KAI application, because sales are still ongoing. "It is advised for the public who will travel by long-distance trains before Christmas 2023 to choose an alternative date or use the connecting train feature which helps provide alternative train travel by combining connecting train schedules on the Access by KAI application," concluded Luqman.
