Malang City KPU's Steps to Realize Legitimate Elections

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The General Election Commission (KPU) of Malang City held a Socialization and Simulation of Voting - Vote Counting in the 2024 Election at the Islamic Center Building of Malang City, Sunday (17/122023/57). This event involved hundreds of residents, the Voting Committee (PPS) from 5 sub-districts, the District Election Committee (PPK) from XNUMX sub-districts and the Voting Organizer Group (KPPS).

The implementation of socialization and simulation of voting and vote counting ahead of the 2024 election at the Islamic Center building in Malang City took place in a lively manner.

From this socialization and simulation, Malang City KPU Chairperson Aminah Asminingtyas said that it is targeted that during the election, residents will be able to cast their votes at polling stations correctly. In addition, election organizers at the sub-district and district levels can carry out their duties properly. "From all of that, the level of community participation will be high and give birth to a legitimate democratic party," she added.

One of the things that is emphasized in this socialization is for residents to know the various types of ballot papers. Such as to choose legislative candidates at the district/city, provincial and central levels and to choose or vote in the order of their choice. "From this step, it will also reduce the number of invalid ballots and voting more than one on one ballot sheet," explained Aminah.

"To the community, we can start socializing now with various methods, be it face-to-face, then through social media, and through other networks. Later there will also be volunteers to help socialize to all parties. Not only the organizers but also all the community and especially in Malang City. The most important thing is for the community to know the correct way to vote so that their votes are truly valid and can be counted," he explained.

On this occasion, the Malang City KPUD also provided direction and training for election organizers at the sub-district and district levels. Such as related to how to recap the results of the ballot papers which were then submitted to witnesses at the polling stations to be uploaded to the sirekap application. Socialization and simulations like this will be held again so that the election runs smoothly, safely, honestly and fairly.

"Election organizers at the sub-district and district levels are one of our spearheads, to produce quality elections. So that they will also receive special technical guidance (Bimtek). However, public participation and awareness in democracy are also an important part of all of this," concluded Aminah. (say/yon)
