Beware of Fraud in the Name of BPJS Health

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Social Security Administering Agency (BPJS) Health continues to appeal to the public, especially JKN Program participants, to always be alert to the possibility of fraud in the name of BPJS Health.

Head of the Malang Branch of BPJS Health, Roni Kurnia Hadi Permana

This was conveyed by the Head of the Malang BPJS Kesehatan Branch, Roni Kurnia Hadi Permana, Tuesday (19/12/2023) after receiving a report of fraud that befell JKN Program participants and submitting a complaint to the Malang Branch Office.

"Currently, fraud modes are diverse. We urge the public to always be vigilant and alert if someone contacts a participant on behalf of BPJS Kesehatan. Do not be easily tempted by the lure of money or prizes given," he added.

Roni advised the public not to be easily surprised if there is an incident that is conveyed via telephone so that they act spontaneously. There is fraud with financial motives to get money from participants. However, there is also fraud with non-financial motives, namely wanting to get personal data of participants. "So we have to be careful in responding to it," said Roni.

The fraud modes that have been detected include calls to apply for job vacancies, provision of cash assistance of a certain nominal amount, refund of premium contributions, JKN membership will be immediately blocked, or BPJS Health cards exceeding the limit for drug use.

Even the latest fraud mode, the fraudster claims to be from BPJS Kesehatan and contacts the participant to provide information that accuses the participant of having committed fraud by taking the medicine three times in different places.

"Be careful when submitting personal data such as Population Identification Number (NIK), date of birth or mother's name. Make sure that the data is submitted to the right person or through official channels. If in doubt, first contact Care Center 165 or come directly to the Branch Office for confirmation," continued Roni.

Once again, we would like to state that BPJS Kesehatan never contacts participants by providing false information, starting from asking for NIK, giving gifts or social assistance to asking participants to send money to an account number in the name of an individual.

Roni reminded that the official administrative service channels owned by BPJS Kesehatan are Administrative Services Through Whatsapp (PANDAWA) with contact number 08118165165, Chika with contact number 08118750400, JKN Mobile Application, and Care Center 165.

The public can also confirm the accuracy of information related to BPJS Kesehatan through the official website www.bpjs-kesehatan.go.id or the official BPJS Kesehatan social media channels on Twitter @BPJSKesehatanRI, Facebook @BPJSKesehatanRI, Instagram @bpjskesehatan_ri, TikTok @bpjskesehatan_ri and Youtube @BPJSKesehatan_RI.

"There are times when we contact participants, for example to confirm contribution bills. We contact the participants via tele-collection or through JKN cadres. In addition, we may also contact participants to confirm the health services received by the participants whether the participants really received the services. In this case, of course, we already have the data and will not ask for data from the participants," explained Roni.

Some time ago, Erfandi (28) received a text message stating that he had received a cash prize. However, he did not immediately believe it, he tended to choose to first confirm the truth of the message with the BPJS Kesehatan Malang Branch Office officer and received information that the text message was a fraud in the name of BPJS Kesehatan.

"When I got the text message, luckily I didn't believe it right away. For other people, maybe be more careful, don't be tempted by the lure of prizes in the name of BPJS Kesehatan, so it's better to just ask the BPJS Kesehatan officer directly," concluded Erfandi. (say/yon)
