Stock of Basic Necessities and Fuel is Safe Ahead of Christmas and New Year 2024

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Acting Mayor of Malang together with the Malang City Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) monitored the stock and readiness to fulfill basic needs and fuel in the Malang City area, Thursday (21/12/2021).

Acting Mayor of Malang Wahyu Hidayat together with the Malang City TPID reviewed the availability and price stability of basic necessities

Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM said that this activity is a form of anticipation ahead of Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 (Nataru). The four locations targeted by the Malang City TPID monitoring include Pasar Besar, distributor Jl. Kyai Tamin, Bulog Warehouse in Gadang, and Pertamina Malang Fuel Terminal.

From the monitoring results, the stock of basic necessities and fuel in Malang City ahead of Christmas and New Year is confirmed to be safe and the prices are monitored in a stable condition. "First we visited Pasar Besar, we immediately asked the traders there, especially several commodities that yesterday when we had a TPID meeting were going up. However, when we asked directly this time the prices of the commodities turned out to be stable," explained Wahyu.

He further explained that some commodities had previously experienced price increases. But when checked directly, there were some commodities that fell, such as cayenne pepper and red chili. Likewise, onions, sugar, cooking oil, rice and several other commodities were monitored to have no spikes. Although it must still be anticipated because there is a tendency for it to increase ahead of Christmas and New Year.

"Then after the Big Market we go to the rice distributor. All types are available, from regular to premium available at standard prices. And from the price there is indeed no such high increase from the distributor. There is also no increase in price for other basic necessities such as sugar, cooking oil, all prices are normal," he explained.

Acting Mayor of Malang together with TPID also checked the availability of rice stock at Bulog Gadang Warehouse. He said that all is available until Christmas and New Year, from the distributors all stocks are ready. He said that in the future TPID has agreed to buy some rice from the stock at Bulog to anticipate the possibility of rice prices increasing during Christmas and New Year.

"We will buy from Bulog, we will operate the market. With the cheap market we will provide rice from Bulog to suppress the price of rice in anticipation of the increase in Nataru tomorrow. That is also part of the TPID work program to stabilize rice including other commodities," he said.

Finally, Wahyu and the TPID team visited the Pertamina Malang Fuel Terminal. At the last monitoring point, Wahyu said that the availability of fuel is currently very safe. So even though the Nataru tendency is that there will be a lot of tourist traffic and people coming to Malang City, this has been anticipated.

"We are ready, and God willing, there will be no fuel shortages, all stocks from gas stations to Pertashop are all available and reserves here are safe for Malang Raya. Hopefully tomorrow the people who will celebrate Nataru and those who come to Malang City can carry out their holidays and worship safely, calmly and conducively. There are no problems whatsoever related to the availability of basic necessities and fuel," he concluded. (yul/yon)
