Acting Mayor of Malang Inaugurates Crossing Gate and Guard Post in Pulosari

Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Of the 11 level crossing gates in Malang City, this year the Malang City Government (Pemkot) built four locations and completed the infrastructure, such as gates, sirens, warning lights, signs, posts and guards, as well as surveillance cameras.

Acting Mayor of Malang Wahyu Hidayat together with the Malang City Police Chief, the Malang City Regional Secretary, the Malang City Transportation Agency Head, representatives of the Forkopimda and PT KAI prayed together before cutting the tumpeng for the inauguration.

Of the four developments, two are in the Purwodadi Village area, Blimbing District or precisely on Jalan Pulosari. Of these two locations, one location will be funded by the East Java Provincial Government. One location is in the Bandungrejosari Village area, precisely behind Kanjuruhan University and another is in the Gadang Village area in the Kacuk area.

Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM after inaugurating the level crossing gate and guard post on Jalan Pulosari, Purwodadi Village, Blimbing District, Thursday (28/12/2023) revealed that the remaining four locations will be built in 2024. Two locations in Ciptomulyo Village or in the Pertamina Depot area will be funded by Pertamina. Two more locations will be determined later through the Traffic Forum in January 2024.

Wahyu added that there were three locations of crossing gates that were forced to be closed because they did not meet the requirements and were located close together. "This program is to prevent and reduce the number of accidents, especially in the area of railroad crossings," he added.

Although so far there have been no casualties or accidents at this crossing, residents and road users are still advised to be careful. "The urgency of this program is also for safety, and don't let problems occur, namely accidents at railroad crossings," explained Wahyu.

In addition, it is also an implementation of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transportation, which was then issued in regional regulations (perda). "Once again, this is part of the regional government's obligation to be present and provide a sense of security, comfort and safety for residents," explained Wahyu.

"Each crossing gate is guarded by five people in turns who are equipped with attributes and supporting facilities. The crossing gate guards will receive an honorarium of Rp500 thousand every month allocated from the Malang City Government's APBD," he concluded. (say/yon)
