Acting Mayor conducts checks at Pasar Besar

Acting Mayor of Malang Wahyu Hidayat revealed that before reviewing the Pasar Besar this time, his party had reviewed and opened the Inflation Press Stall at the Dinoyo Market on Sunday (24/12/2023). "I asked buyers and traders (Pasar Besar) directly about the prices of basic necessities. Thank God it is still under control," explained Wahyu, Wednesday (27/12).

This stall, Wahyu said, has proven to be able to intervene in the instability of staple food prices, especially ahead of Christmas and New Year (Nataru). Seeing this, the number one person in the Malang City Government also plans to roll out the Warung Press Inflation for longer.

"Not only during the Christmas and New Year period, until March 2024 or Eid al-Fitr, it will continue to be held to help the community and ensure that the prices of basic necessities remain under control," explained Wahyu.

In order to suppress inflation through the Inflation Suppression Program, Malang City has provided a budget of IDR 2 billion for subsidies on the prices of basic necessities from the Unexpected Expenditure (BTT) budget.

"From the evaluation we conducted, since it was opened at Pasar Dinoyo yesterday, Warung Tekan Inflation has had a very big influence so that the price of basic necessities that previously continued to rise has now decreased and is under control. For that reason, in the future, further disbursement will continue so that the price of basic necessities in Malang City can truly be safe and under control," he explained.

Head of Malang City Trade and Industry Office Eko Sri Yuliardi said that Warung Pressing Inflation has contributed to the price of basic necessities, such as rice, eggs, cooking oil, chili, garlic, shallots, and so on. "One stall every day sells 5 tons of Market Price Supply Stabilization (SPHP) rice, while other brands of rice sell 5 tons, so a total of 10 tons of rice are sold out in one day. This is not including other commodities," explained Eko.

Diskopindag obtains supplies of rice commodities in collaboration with Bulog, while for agricultural products such as chili, red and white onions are obtained directly from farmers. "At Warung Tekan Inflation, various commodities are sold at wholesale prices, we lower them by a few percent from the market price," explained Eko.

Meanwhile, one of the buyers, Sumarni admitted that the price at Warung Tekan Inflation Pasar Besar is very cheap. For example, the price of Lahap brand rice which is sold on the market for Rp5 per 62.000,00 kg, here it is sold for only Rp57.000,00. "Likewise with other necessities such as granulated sugar, cooking oil, cayenne pepper, and others, all are below market price," explained Sumarni.

He admitted that Warung Tekan Inflation really helped the community, including himself, to get basic necessities at cheaper prices. He also hopes that this program will continue so that the community is more helped. (cah/yon)
