Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – In order to ensure the quality of personnel and health services in Malang City, Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat visited the Malang City Health Office (Dinkes) on Friday (5/1/2024). Accompanied by structural officials of the Health Office, Wahyu monitored every room in the office located in the Sulfat area while greeting the personnel.

Wahyu said that he wanted to ensure that health services for the people of Malang City were running well. "I want to see it directly because health is a basic need for citizens and there are standards that are also related to mandatory spending that we must provide. And the accountability for this mandatory spending must be clear," he said.
Wahyu further said that by conducting this visit, his party could directly find out the conditions in the field. "Starting from the condition of human resources, then how the program is implemented in 2023. Previously, we only knew data, but it turned out that after checking in the field it was indeed appropriate," he continued.
The Acting Mayor of Malang also appreciated the performance of the medical personnel who are always ready to serve the community. "These medical personnel are the spearhead in dealing with extraordinary events, such as Covid-19 yesterday. That is why we also provide motivation and appreciation to health workers," he said.
On this occasion, the Acting Mayor of Malang provided inputs, both in terms of service, infrastructure needs, and for improving human resources. One of the things highlighted by Wahyu was related to health infrastructure that must be more complete. He conveyed this considering that health service facilities in Malang City are also often referred to by patients from outside the region for treatment.
"That is why we must continue to improve health facility infrastructure. One example is related to a special warehouse for storing vaccines. We will also continue to improve health center services, even though their status has been fully accredited," he said.
Overall, Wahyu assessed that health services in Malang City are good. One proof is the life expectancy in Malang City which reaches 75,34. "This figure is above the provincial and national achievements. This is one indicator that the performance of the Health Service is good and must continue to be improved," explained Wahyu.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Malang City Health Office, dr. Husnul Muarif, MM said that to support the health services of the residents, Malang City has various health facilities. "We have 16 health centers, 114 clinics, and 26 hospitals that provide health services for the people of Malang City," said Husnul.
For health workers, there are a total of 7.293 health workers in Malang City. This number consists of 1.077 specialist doctors, 395 general practitioners, 52 dentists, 3.380 nurses, 479 midwives. In addition, it also consists of sanitarians, public health, pharmacists, and other health workers. These health workers are spread throughout the public health services of Malang City and its surroundings.
Various health services in Malang City are also provided starting from pre-pregnancy, namely to young women and prospective brides who are given iron tablets which aim to prevent anemia and reduce the risk of stunting in babies. Then interventions are also carried out on pregnant women, newborns, school children, and the elderly.
"This is the minimum service standard (SPM) carried out by our health service friends. This good service is also one of the things that encourages life expectancy in Malang City to increase," concluded Husnul. (ari/yon)
