Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) has started implementing the first round of the National Immunization Sub Week (PIN) Polio simultaneously. Symbolically, the launching of the Polio Sub PIN was carried out by the Acting Mayor of Malang, Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat MM by providing polio immunization to children in the target group at SDN Kauman 2 and Posyandu RW 4, Kayutangan Kauman Village, Monday (15/1/2023).

"This is a government program that we must do, and this is simultaneous not only in Malang City, but throughout Indonesia. For Malang City, there are 300 points and approximately 100 thousand children aged 0 to 7 years. The hope is that with the existence of this Sub PIN Polio, and the children have been vaccinated, if later there is a polio outbreak, we have anticipated this," explained Wahyu.
Sub PIN Polio is the provision of additional Polio immunization regardless of previous polio immunization status. The purpose of the activity that carries the tagline Together We Free Children from Polio, Healthy Children, Great Indonesia is in order to prevent and break the chain of transmission of the Polio virus which causes paralysis in children.
"So we do this simultaneously, divided into two waves. In February, we will immunize for the second vaccine. Let's make our children a quality generation in 2045. The children we are preparing now are the ones who will become quality human resources. So we hope that this polio vaccine can make them immune to polio," explained the number one person in the Malang City Government.
Wahyu further explained that the first round of Polio Sub PIN was carried out on January 15-21, 2024, and the second round will be carried out on February 19-24, 2024. The vaccine given is the polio drop vaccine. This drop immunization for children is given free of charge at 300 points spread across Malang City, namely integrated health posts, schools (PAUD - SD) and regional health centers.
"To make this activity a success, the Sub-district Heads and Village Heads should convey to all ranks to support this program by continuing to encourage and educate the community to participate in providing polio immunization for their children," he concluded. (yul/yon)
