Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The process of adding escalator facilities at the Malang Creative Center (MCC) Building in Malang City is now almost complete and can be used. A total of four escalators are being worked on, two escalators connecting the 2nd floor to the 3rd floor, while the other two connect the 3rd and 4th floors of the MCC building.
As is commonly known, in the MCC building which is a forum for actors in 17 sub-sectors of the creative economy (ekraf), various activities and events are held. From the available data, during 2023 approximately 2.500 events have been held with a total of 200.000 visitors.
MCC Engineering Section Supervisor M. Jafar revealed that the escalator work percentage at MCC has reached 80 percent and is currently waiting for electricity to then be adjusted so that it can operate properly and safely. "The target is that this month all escalators will be completed and can be used. Just waiting for electricity and settings," explained Jafar, Wednesday (17/1/2024).
He said that considering that the MCC building has been used for activities, the electrical work and escalator settings cannot be done carelessly. "It takes careful calculation so that it does not disrupt activities at the MCC, but the completion of the escalator can run well," he explained again.
Before the addition of this escalator facility, access to each floor at MCC was still limited to using elevators only. Therefore, with the addition of this escalator facility, it will certainly greatly support mobility and smoothness when there is an event on a large scale at MCC.
"Especially when almost every floor, from the second floor to the seventh floor in MCC is full of events, while access is only by elevator, it often happens and is complained about is the very high queue. While the stairs that are currently available are only emergency stairs whose designation is different," explained Jafar. (cah/yon)
