Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) will immediately consult with the Directorate of Strategic Infrastructure, Directorate General of Human Settlements under the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (KemenPUPR) regarding the plan to repair the Malang Grand Market (PBM).
Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM when met on Monday (22/1/2024) revealed that his party had conveyed this to the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo some time ago during a working visit to Malang City.
"The estimated budget for repairing PBM is still not known for sure. Although it has been calculated, it still needs to be consulted again. If it is completely dismantled, it will need around Rp400 billion. But if it is renovated, it is likely to be only half of the budget prediction," explained Wahyu.
Wahyu said the concept of PBM will be Green Building with an open building form and no need for air conditioning. This PBM can be like the main market in Batu City. "When I entered the Pasar Besar some time ago, it was as if I didn't know whether it was still day or night, because it was closed inside," explained Wahyu.
For the repair of PBM, his party must consider the fate of market traders. For example, a number of traders are worried that they will not get stalls if PBM is completely dismantled. "However, if it is renovated, on average traders are ready. But later we have to see and make sure that the former fire building does not cause problems in the future. That is why a study is needed, so as not to cause or trigger new problems," concluded Wahyu. (say/yon)
