Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Until now, in the Merdeka Square area of Malang City, there are still street vendors (PKL) selling on the side of the road. This violates Malang City Regional Regulation Number 2 of 2012 concerning Public Order and the Environment. Reform measures have also been taken, but street vendors are still seen selling.

Head of the Cooperatives and Trade Service (Diskopindag) of Malang City, Eko Sri Yuliadi when met on Friday (26/1/2024) asked street vendors to be aware not to sell in Alun-Alun Merdeka which should be ring one or a street vendor-free area.
Eko emphasized that later the street vendors will no longer be disciplined, but will be cleared from areas that are indeed prohibited. According to him, in addition to disrupting traffic flow, the presence of street vendors also disrupts and reduces the beauty of the city.
"We do not prohibit street vendors from selling or earning a living, but they must know the place. There are still many locations to sell, such as in the Pasar Besar area or on Jalan Ade Irma Suryani which is a productive area," Eko added.
He said that his party is not against the existence of street vendors. However, it would be better if the street vendors could be invited to cooperate and obey the rules, so that a reciprocal relationship will be established.
"So don't blame the officers from Satpol PP if they always carry out control and even give minor criminal sanctions (tipiring) for those who always violate the rules," concluded Eko. (say/yon)
