Head of PAUD Kasih Bunda Cemorokandang Post, Novi Rus Indra Kurniawati revealed that this activity was a collaboration between the school, parents, and the East Java SAR Team unit. "We hope that after participating in this activity, the children will understand what to do when facing a disaster situation," explained Novi.

Through this activity, children learn disaster response with adapted materials. Starting from recognizing disasters, to how to anticipate a disaster condition.

"These children are taught not to panic, then run and take cover in a safe place like under a table when there is an earthquake. After calming down, the children simulate walking while carrying their bags on their heads as a form of alertness, then there is also a simulation of running to the gathering point," he explained again.

In addition, Novi explained that on this occasion, the children were also introduced to the handling when someone is injured and then lifted onto a stretcher, then put into a medical vehicle and given treatment.

Novi said that this disaster response simulation is an annual routine activity that is usually called a parent class. A program where students are invited to get to know their parents' professions better, such as currently one of the parents of a student who is a member of the East Java Province SAR Team.

"Not only the East Java SAR Team, we also bring in a complete health team to facilitate and attract learning interests that are in accordance with the children's mindset," he concluded. (cah/yon)
