The number of visitors has also increased, even though the village was temporarily inactive during the pandemic. "From previously only around 80 MSMEs, now there are 250 MSMEs developed by residents. Likewise for stalls that can dine in, previously there were only five houses. Now there are 25 houses that have opened a kind of stall, a small cafe and can eat and drink on the spot," said Mila.
Mila explained that Pokdarwis also developed several visit packages. "So visitors don't just walk around, but we also provide cooking shows, batik, or children's games for visitors who have previously made reservations," she added.
Meanwhile, the RW Chairmen conveyed several 'complaints' to the Malang City Government. Several things that are problems complained about by residents are related to parking and street vendors. In addition, it is also related to security, business taxes, and infrastructure that needs to be fixed or renewed.
As expressed by RW 9 Kauman Village, Fathul Azis who expressed the need for parking and street vendor management. "For our area, the connection with the Kayutangan corridor is very large. The positive side is that there are many guests, our UMKM is alive and so on, but what is noted and complained by residents is the problem of parking and street vendor management," he said.
The Acting Mayor of Malang together with the relevant regional apparatus directly listened to and responded to all problems, complaints, and input submitted by residents. Wahyu also instructed the relevant regional apparatus to follow up on several matters that were discussed.
"We will organize street vendors later. Like the initial policy, we will try to organize street vendors with humanistic approaches. Likewise, for parking, there will be follow-up from the Transportation Agency. We will improve governance, as well as education for parking attendants so that residents and visitors are both comfortable and well-served," said Wahyu.
On this occasion, Wahyu also inaugurated the Kayutangan Pokdarwis Secretariat Office which was previously unoccupied. "Hopefully with this place, Pokdarwis can manage this tourist area better.
