Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – Confucianists at the Eng An Kiong Temple in Malang City perform the Sung Sen prayer to accompany the gods to face the Almighty, Saturday (3/2/2024). The Sung Sen prayer is performed seven days before the Chinese New Year. This worship is performed at several altars to accompany the 16 Holy Gods.
Eng An Kiong Temple Public Relations, Luluk Indraningsih, after the service said that today the temple congregation also cleaned the statues of the gods. All of this was done to welcome the Chinese New Year 2575 which falls on February 10, 2024. Luluk said that the service and cleaning of the statues of the gods contained a message for the congregation to also have clean hearts.
With a clean heart when the new year, it is hoped that the people can live a better life and receive abundant blessings. Their lives can be harmonious and free from various disasters.
"Earlier, the worship was moving around, because there are 15 or 16 saints here. So each altar was worshipped, the names of the saints were called. The sinbing were called one by one, because they will also go up," added Luluk.
If worshiping at home, Luluk said that the congregation calls it cofungkong, if in the temple there are many saints. "So yes, one by one they are prayed for and worshipped so that they go up in turns," explained the middle-aged woman.
In this Chinese New Year, Confucianists in their prayers also hope that the Indonesian nation will remain peaceful, calm and its people will live in peace. Given that this year is a political year and whoever becomes president is the best choice of the people who must be respected together. (say/yon)
