Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) attended the online Inflation Control Coordination Meeting from the Ngalam Command Center (NCC) Room, Malang City Hall, Monday (5/2/2024). Also present were the Acting Mayor of Malang, Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM accompanied by the Regional Secretary of Malang City Erik Setyo Santoso, the Head of the Malang City BPS Umar Sjaifudin, and regional officials included in the Malang City TPID.

The Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) routinely holds an inflation control coordination meeting every Monday and is attended by Ministries/Institutions, Regional Governments, the TNI, Polri, and related stakeholders.
In this coordination meeting, they discussed the condition of price movements, obstacles, and concrete steps in controlling inflation in each region. In addition, the acceleration of the formation of regional regulations on people with disabilities was also discussed.
The Inspector General (Irjen) of the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs who led the coordination meeting advised regional heads whose inflation rates were still above the national average to find the cause of the problem and take strategic steps to overcome it.
"Food commodities that experienced price increases in the fourth week of January were garlic, shallots, and broiler chicken. Meanwhile, food commodities that experienced price increases in the first week of February were cooking oil, rice, and red chili," he explained.
After attending the coordination meeting, Acting Mayor of Malang Wahyu Hidayat explained that controlling inflation is an urgent matter to be implemented for the welfare of the community. To suppress the inflation rate in the region, he said that the interventions carried out by the government include the distribution of social assistance, direct cash assistance, cheap market movements, and so on.
