The smooth running of the election, including the quiet period, is a crucial moment in a Democratic Party. During the quiet period, namely February 11-13, 2024, all contestants and anyone concerned must stop campaign activities.
That was what Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM said during the 2024 Election Quiet Period Supervision Alert Roll Call in front of Malang City Hall, Saturday (10/2/2024). This election quiet period is also to provide an opportunity for voters to determine their choice calmly and without pressure.
In this context, Wahyu said that commitment is needed from all parties, especially election organizers, government elements, security forces and election participants to make the election a success while maintaining conduciveness in Malang City.
Therefore, at this alert roll call, Wahyu also emphasized to all election organizers in Malang City to strengthen synergy and coordination, including law enforcement officers, KPU, Bawaslu, Regional Government and civil society organizations to ensure that the quiet period runs smoothly.
"Second, increase patrols and surveillance throughout Malang City, especially in locations prone to violations of the quiet period. Then take firm and measured action against any violations of the quiet period as required in accordance with applicable laws and regulations," he added.
Fourth, ensure there is no money politics campaign and the most important thing is to ensure timely, targeted and accurate distribution of logistics. Fifth, Wahyu asked to regulate Campaign Equipment (APK) to maintain the calm of voters in determining their choice.
"Sixth, provide education and socialization to the community about the importance of the quiet period. Finally, maintain neutrality and professionalism in carrying out duties and authorities, and avoid attitudes and actions that can cause public unrest," he urged.
Wahyu is confident that with coordination and order by Bawaslu, the ranks of the Malang City Government and other related elements, the implementation of the 2024 Malang City Election with integrity, honesty, fairness and dignity can be created.
He did not forget to invite all elements to jointly guard and supervise during the quiet period of the election, and ensure the success of the supervision of the quiet period of the 2024 election.
