Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Ahead of the 2024 Simultaneous General Elections (Pemilu) which will be held in two days, regional governments and several other agencies are reminded to remain focused on maintaining inflation and the stability of staple commodity prices. This was conveyed by the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) M. Tito Karnavian while leading the Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting (rakor), Monday (12/2/2024).

In the meeting attended by Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat and the Malang City Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) online from the Ngalam Command Center (NCC) room, Minister Tito also reminded that although the national inflation rate is quite under control, local governments are asked to remain vigilant.
"We do not know whether the impact of this Democratic Party will have an impact on increasing demand or not, because it greatly affects the adequacy of supply," he said.
In his report, Minister Tito stated that the current national year-on-year (yoy) inflation rate is at 2,57 percent. This figure is in accordance with the target set by the government in early 2024, which is at 2,5 percent with a plus or minus of one percent, or with the highest figure of 3,5 percent and the lowest of 1,5 percent. In addition, there was a decrease in the figure from December 2023 to January 2024, where the inflation rate decreased from 0,41 percent to 0,04 percent.
"This figure shows that inflation is relatively under control. Good news for the nation, but it does not necessarily describe the situation in the regions," he explained.
In maintaining the rate of inflation control, Minister Tito advised that it is better not to only refer to national figures. Because, that condition does not necessarily describe inflation control in each region because the figures still vary. Several commodities that are still triggering the increase in inflation rates include corn for livestock, rice, and garlic.
After the vote, Minister Tito said that his party will hold a meeting at the ministerial level and heads of related institutions to find solutions and interventions on commodity prices. However, he also continues to remind all parties including local governments to be aware of the development of commodity prices. "We certainly hope that the regions will also be creative and creative in controlling inflation in their respective regions. Please control it properly," he concluded. (iu/yon)
