Collaborating with PFI Malang, Photography Training Involves UMKM Actors and the Disabled

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) through the Communication and Information Service (Diskominfo) held a Photography Training in collaboration with the Indonesian Photojournalists (PFI) Malang and involved participants from MSME actors and people with disabilities at the Ijen Suites Hotel, Wednesday (21/2/2023).

Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM said that this training is a manifestation of the Malang City Government's commitment to improving the competence and abilities of the younger generation, so that they become quality Human Resources (HR) that will lead to strengthening the creative industry in Malang City.

"In today's digital era, especially the era of social media, photos have become a major force, including in conveying impactful messages. It can be said that photography is now not just a hobby, but has become an inseparable part of the creative industry. So this is an important thing in carrying out my mandate where one of the focuses is to improve the creative economy in Malang City," explained the number one person in the Malang City Government.

Wahyu also appreciated the existence of this photography training which is expected to be a forum for collaboration, sharing ideas and forming a strong network in the local photography community to support the development of creative economy in Malang City. As is well known, currently Malang City is preparing to become a World Creative City in 2025 so that the Malang City Government continues to strive to strengthen its commitment to realizing this.

"Through this training, participants have a golden opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills in the world of photography. Let's all make the most of this opportunity, as an investment for ourselves as a step towards success in our respective photography careers. I am sure that together we can achieve extraordinary things," he said.

This Photography Training activity was attended by 223 participants divided into phase I (111 participants) and phase II (112 participants) which were proposals from the Village Musrenbang and Thematic Musrenbang. Participants who attended came from representatives of the Community Information Group (KIM), youth organizations of various ages, professions including brothers and sisters with disabilities. This shows that Malang City is very inclusive. (yul/yon)
