Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government continues to intensify the implementation of the National Immunization Sub Week (PIN) Polio Round II for children aged 0-7 years. The second phase of polio immunization will take place from 19-25 February 2024. As seen at the Polio Sub PIN Service Post located at the RW 4 Hall, Bareng Village, Friday (23/2/2024).

Polio Sub PIN Services in Bareng Village

Head of Bareng Wiwaha Village Krismahaenda, SE said that his party is collaborating with PKK and Posyandu cadres to educate the community, especially targeted parents, to invite their children to come to the Sub PIN Polio service posts that have been provided. Thus, it is hoped that the number of community participation in the implementation of Sub PIN Polio will reach the target.

"This is the second phase of Polio Sub PIN. Hopefully our children will be healthy, free from polio which has recently been quite rampant. So it is hoped that by providing this immunization, it can save our future generations, especially for Indonesian children, in Bareng Village in particular," he said.

In line with Lurah Bareng, Head of TP PKK Klojen District Dra. Mimin Hariani Heri Sunarko, M.Si. revealed that the implementation of Sub PIN Polio is expected to protect children from polio. "Indeed, it has existed in other areas. Hopefully, children in Klojen District and Malang City will be polio-free. The target is 95 percent, and in the first stage we have reached 106 percent. Hopefully the second one can be more," he said.

The Head of TP PKK Klojen District revealed that the level of community participation in this national program was very good. The high level of community participation is in line with the increasing public awareness to protect children's health, including from polio. "From 11 sub-districts, we require our cadres to assist in the implementation. Cross-sector collaboration continues to be strengthened. Both from the Health Office, Education and Culture Office, Posyandu cadres, village heads, sub-district heads, to Babinsa. Alhamdulillah, all are present and united," concluded Mimin.

Meanwhile, the Head of Bareng Health Center, drg. Dinna Indarti said that in the Bareng Health Center's work area, the target number of Sub PIN Polio implementation this time was around 4.720 children aged 0-7 years. Dinna revealed that for the first round, the achievement in her work area, namely in Bareng, Gading Kasri, Sukoharjo, and Kasin Villages, had reached 102 percent.

"As of the 21st, we have 72 percent of the target who have received immunization. For this Sub PIN Polio service, we are in 32 kindergartens, 18 elementary schools, and 36 integrated health posts. So far, community participation is quite high, in addition to the increasing public understanding of health, this polio immunization is also relatively free of KIPI (post-immunization events)," explained Dinna.

Dinna explained that the Health Office not only deployed health center personnel in the implementation of this Sub PIN Polio, but also collaborated with hospitals in Malang City to provide immunization services. In addition to schools and integrated health posts, Sub PIN Polio Phase II services were also provided at several crowded areas and public facilities such as Pasar Besar, Matos, MOG, and Arjosari Terminal.

One of the residents of Bareng, Mentari, expressed her appreciation to the posyandu cadres and health center officers who had served. In addition to receiving polio immunization, her two children aged 20 months and 58 months also received vitamin A, also through the process of measuring weight, height, head circumference, and upper arm circumference.

"I think immunization is very important for children. This is already a standard from WHO, so the research is not from a single person. So for the growth and development of children, especially in their first 1.000 days, it is very important to prevent serious infections that will later interfere with the growth and development of children," said Mentari.
