Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – The Kedungkandang District Election Committee (PPK), Malang City, conducted a review and recount of the results of the General Election (Pemilu) on February 14 which took place at 583 Polling Stations (TPS). This was done based on a request from the District Election Supervisory Committee (Panwascam) and election contestants.

The Head of the Kedungkandang PPK, Muhammad Hatif, when met on Thursday (29/2/2024), explained that the vote recount was carried out after it was indicated that there was a technical error from election officials when entering data into the Recapitulation Information System (Sirekap) application.
In addition, there were also indications of negligence by election officials due to fatigue while on duty. As a result, some legislative candidates' votes decreased and some increased. "To avoid debate and to ensure that the election remains peaceful, a re-examination and recount of votes were carried out," he explained.
He added that in this process various related parties were present, including from the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), witnesses and TPS officers. "This re-examination is to maintain accuracy, so we will re-examine TPS by TPS, because we really want to give the best," he added.
What the PPK Kedungkandang did received appreciation from the Chairman of the Malang City DPRD, I Made Riandiana Kartika who also monitored the implementation of the vote recount. According to him, this is part of the Democratic Party process and political education that must be respected.
"Kedungkandang has the most extraordinary dynamics, where re-examination and data synchronization were carried out so that we needed to pay special attention, and it turned out that everything had gone well. Hopefully this can satisfy all parties, especially from the side of the election participants," he explained clearly.
The recount has started since Wednesday night (28/2/2024) and is targeted to be completed on Friday night (1/3/2024). Its implementation also received 24-hour security from personnel from Satpol PP and TNI – Polri. Several residents who are the winning teams of legislative candidates and representatives of political parties waited and were even willing to spend the night in front of the Kedungkandang District Office.
