Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Settlement Areas Agency (DPUPRPKP) of Malang City held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the Strategy for Fulfilling Green Open Space (RTH) Patterns Based on Statutory Provisions at the Santika Hotel in Malang City, Wednesday (6/3/2024). Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM was present and opened the activity which was attended by the village heads, sub-district heads, and related regional apparatuses.

Acting Mayor of Malang Wahyu Hidayat revealed that the preparation of the Detailed Spatial Plan (RDTR) is a follow-up to the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) product, according to regulations, an FGD needs to be conducted regarding regional spatial planning including green open spaces. "We have determined the RTRW, from here we provide policy direction for the area of green open spaces in Malang City," explained Wahyu.
The number one person in the Malang City Government emphasized the importance of this FGD as a concrete step to increase understanding and formulate solutions related to the need for green open space in Malang City.
He also revealed that the government has set policies related to the area of green open space based on the RTRW and RDTR which will be effective instruments in planning sustainable development in Malang City.
Meanwhile, Head of DPUPRPKP Malang City Dandung Julhardjanto said this activity is an effort to fulfill RTH in accordance with applicable laws. Where it is one of the things that must be fulfilled in the RDTR. "However, we still encounter several obstacles and problems, one of which is the land ownership status," said Dandung.
He added that the acceleration of the preparation of the RDTR could later become the basis for issuing permits and accommodating development in Malang City. For this reason, this activity is expected to accommodate the provision of green open space by accommodating all stakeholder needs.
This FGD presents a resource person from the Directorate of Spatial Planning Development for Region I, Directorate General of Spatial Planning, Ministry of PUPR, Barkah Yoelianto SP MT who provides insight and understanding related to the strategy for fulfilling green open space. (cah/yon)
