Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – In 2024, the Malang City Government (Pemkot) has registered 26.400 workers receiving incentives for BPJS Employment membership. Symbolically, this membership sign was handed over by the Head of the Malang BPJS Employment Branch, Widodo, to the Acting Mayor of Malang, Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM during the morning assembly at Malang City Hall, Monday (18/3/2024).

The Malang City Government is committed to providing welfare to workers receiving incentives, namely by providing protection and social security through BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. The Acting Mayor of Malang said that the workers receiving incentives in question include RT/RW heads, Satlinmas members, death modin, marbut, religious teachers, Sunday School teachers, cemetery guards, posyandu cadres, and puskesos cadres in the Malang City area.
"We have budgeted from the APBD for workers receiving incentives for BPJS Ketenagakerjaan membership. The total is IDR 3,3 billion per year, which we have helped around 18 people, each receiving IDR 42 million," said Wahyu.
On this occasion, the Acting Mayor of Malang handed over the death benefit claim (JKM) to three heirs of the participants, namely the late Eko Handoko (member of the Lesanpuro Village Community Protection Unit), the late Bambang Sispurwadi (member of the Tanjungrejo Village Community Protection Unit), and the late Supriadi (RT/RW Official of Lowokwaru Village). All three are BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants and each heir received compensation worth Rp42.000.000,00. "The handover of the Jamsostek program membership and benefits is real evidence of the government's concern for the welfare of workers," he said.
The Acting Mayor of Malang also expressed his appreciation to BPJS Ketenagakerjaan which has committed and established cooperation with the Malang City Government in order to provide social security to workers in Malang City. The Malang City Government considers that workers receiving incentives are the driving force that helps the government in organizing social welfare in the community, so efforts are needed to provide health and safety protection while carrying out their duties.
Meanwhile, Head of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Malang Branch Widodo, said that social security for workers receiving incentives is a form of state presence for the community. "There are 18 participants who died consisting of 16 Satlinmas members, one RT Head, and one modin. This is a form of serious attention given by the Malang City Government," explained Widodo.
BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Malang Branch hopes that the local government can also increase the coverage of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan membership, especially for vulnerable workers. "The contribution is only IDR 16.800,00 per month, but if there is a risk of death, the heirs will receive compensation of IDR 42 million. Then the claim process is also fast, it must be paid immediately," he continued.
With the delivery of this compensation, it is hoped that the heirs and families left behind can continue their lives. "We also express our gratitude to the Malang City Government for the initiative and concern for its citizens," he concluded. (ari/yon)
