The Head of the Malang City Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud), Suwarjana, SE, MM, representing the Acting Mayor of Malang, expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the Student Drawing Talent Exhibition which is an event for children to express themselves freely and creatively through drawing activities.

"In the digital era like today, children are increasingly tempted and cannot be separated from gadgets such as smartphones and tablets and others that offer unlimited access to various types of entertainment and information. However, the more time spent in front of the gadget screen can certainly reduce direct interaction with peers and family, and hinder the development of their social skills," explained Suwarjana.

Children are the future generation of the nation's hope, so strengthening their social spirit is the key to creating a better generation in the future through social interaction and learning about empathy, cooperation, and togetherness. The development of these skills is needed so that the next generation can become empathetic and responsible leaders.

"Therefore, encouraging children to socialize is important for the development of their social interactions, supporting children to engage in social activities such as hobby communities or volunteer activities. Their interactions with other children will help build strong relationships, broaden their horizons, develop their social skills. These are the things that are reflected in the drawing activities held today," he explained.

According to Suwarjana, this event is a very positive event. Drawing is an important tool in developing children's skills. Through drawing, children can express their feelings, and learn to convey ideas through creative expression. Through drawing activities, children can also learn to work together with peers, share ideas, listen to other people's perspectives, appreciate other people's work and interact with the community.

"Therefore, I hope that this event can be held sustainably, so that it can attract children's interest and motivate them to continue to develop their abilities and continue to actively socialize," he hoped.

Later, from 110 selected works will be published in the Malang City Spectrum Book, Elementary School Student Picture Version and will also be included in the Malang City Spectrum Book, a special edition of One Century of Gajayana Stadium Malang. While the 11 best works will receive prizes.

To further motivate elementary school students/equivalent participants in the competition, the Head of the Malang City Education and Culture Office said that for the three best works for sixth grade participants, this achievement can be used to enter a State Junior High School with the provision that the Regional Competency Test (UKD) score and daily score will be seen. Participants in this Drawing Talent Selection are required to draw iconic objects or landmarks in Malang City such as Kayutangan, Alun-alun Tugu, Malang City Hall and other iconic places. (yul/yon)
