Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Entering the third week of Ramadan, the price movements of a number of commodities nationally are seen to be relatively stable. This was conveyed by the Inspector General of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Commissioner General Pol. Drs. Tomsi Tohir Balaw, M.Si in the Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting (Rakor) which was held online, Monday (25/3/2024).

The stability of commodity prices, especially food, can be seen from the number of regencies/cities that experienced an increase/decrease in the Price Development Index (IPH), which tends to remain unchanged from the last monitoring results. Even so, Tomsi still reminds all parties to remain vigilant, because there are still several commodities whose prices are seen to increase, especially ahead of this Eid moment. Among others, chicken eggs experienced a price increase of 82.22%, and cooking oil experienced a price increase of 72.78%.
"Prices for this week tend to be stable compared to the previous week. However, food prices are volatile, especially for chicken eggs and chicken meat which need to be monitored, considering the potential inflation of these commodities," he said.
Responding to the direction of the Inspector General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat MM, who attended the online coordination meeting from the Ngalam Command Center (NCC) Room of Malang City Hall, emphasized to the Malang City Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) to remain vigilant about price fluctuations in a number of food commodities.
Wahyu said that from the monitoring results of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Malang City that he received, the commodity of chicken eggs was observed to increase and could be a contributor to the increase in the inflation rate of Malang City. Therefore, Wahyu reminded the TPID of Malang City to remain vigilant and continue to follow the direction of the Ministry of Home Affairs in controlling regional inflation, especially ahead of the momentum of Lebaran which will soon arrive.
"Yesterday we have monitored the market price and also fuel oil (BBM), and we observed that there are indeed some commodities that are declining. However, the closer to the holiday, the tendency is for prices to also increase, that is what we must be aware of," he said.
Regarding the direction from the Inspector General of the Ministry of Home Affairs to carry out six concrete efforts in controlling inflation, Wahyu said that Malang City has carried out the direction, including conducting cheap market operations, conducting surprise inspections to markets and distributors. Malang City has also explored plans for cooperation with commodity producing areas for smooth supply, as well as seeking the realization of unexpected costs (BTT) and transportation support for supply distribution.
