Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) held a Cheap Rice Market Operation SPHP (Stabilization of Food Supply and Prices) by Perum Bulog at the Arjowinangun Village Office, Kedungkandang District, Malang City, Tuesday (26/3/2024).

Five tons of rice or a thousand five-kilogram sacks of rice were distributed in this cheap market operation which aims to suppress and stabilize rice prices which have recently increased.
Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM who was present to review with the Malang City TPID revealed that the increase in rice prices should be watched out for, especially ahead of Eid al-Fitr. "Therefore, after the inflation coordination meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs yesterday, Monday (25/3/2024), I immediately instructed the TPID to hold a cheap market," he explained.
Wahyu said that the community can buy a maximum of two sacks or 10 kilograms of SPHP rice. "Earlier, I asked a resident, and he was very grateful (for this cheap market operation). Moreover, the price of this rice is affordable and in accordance with the community's purchasing power. The price per sack is IDR 51 thousand, if you buy two sacks it is IDR 102 thousand," he explained.
Wahyu said that it is possible that cheap markets like this will be held in other sub-districts, especially ahead of Eid al-Fitr. The number one person in the Malang City Government hopes that the distribution of SPHP rice can be enjoyed evenly.
Meanwhile, Khoiriyah, a resident of Arjowinangun Village, expressed her happiness with the cheap market held by the Malang City Government. This is because the price of rice on the market is currently reaching Rp75.000 per kilogram. In addition to rice, she said that currently on the market the price of basic necessities has increased on average.
"Luckily today I can buy rice at an affordable price. Hopefully cheap markets like this will be held more often, so we can buy basic necessities at a cheaper price," said Khoiriyah. (cah/yon)
