Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri, a number of traffic points have become the focus of the Malang City Government (Pemkot). This time, the Acting Mayor of Malang, Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM, together with several related regional apparatuses, went directly to a number of shopping center locations that have recently become traffic congestion points, Monday (8/4/2024).
The first location to be reviewed was the Olympic Garden Mall (MOG) located on Jalan Kawi. Wahyu said that for the past three days, traffic congestion has occurred at the entrance to the shopping center. Wahyu said that the Transportation Agency (Dishub) assisted by the Klojen Police have asked MOG to be more responsive in organizing and regulating vehicle traffic entering and leaving the mall.
"Earlier it was also conveyed by the Klojen Police Chief, he explained that several warnings had been given. In addition, he has also asked the Head of Transportation Agency to ask the MOG security to be more assertive, to regulate traffic not only in front of the entrance but starting from the Tènes and Kawi intersections so that there is no buildup," he explained.
In order to break up the crowd, Wahyu appealed to the public to use other available alternatives if they wanted to visit MOG. "Earlier after being arranged, it could finally run smoothly and be untangled because no vehicles entered MOG from Jalan Kawi. And we have provided alternatives, there is Balai Kartini and also Gajayana Stadium, so that it does not pile up on Jalan Kawi," he added.
In addition to the entrance of MOG, Wahyu and his entourage also monitored the crowded areas of Ramayana Mall. In addition to the surge in visitors ahead of Lebaran, the crossing of vehicles from Jalan Majapahit and Jalan Aris Munandar heading to Kayutangan is considered to be the main cause of traffic congestion.
In order to reduce the density, Wahyu asked for the road divider on Jalan Merdeka (in front of the Bank Indonesia Building) to be closed during this Eid holiday. Later, vehicles from Jalan Aris Munandar heading to Kayutangan will be directed to Jalan Kauman first, the hope is that there will be no more vehicle meetings that have caused congestion.
"Because of this density, we asked for the barrier in front of the BI building to be closed temporarily. If the traffic volume is low, it can be opened again," he said.
In addition to the two points, Wahyu also mentioned that monitoring will continue to be carried out at a number of points that have been the points of traffic congestion in Malang City. With direct monitoring, Wahyu hopes that the crowded points can be resolved so that the roads in Malang City can run smoothly during this Eid holiday period.
"For now, these two points are our focus. The plan is that other points that will be our focus are the traffic jam on Jalan Surabaya and the Madyopuro toll exit. Hopefully, by conducting this review, these traffic jams can be resolved and the journey can be smoother," he concluded. (iu/yon)
