Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – To celebrate Kartini Day which is celebrated every April 21, Polowijen Cultural Village (KBP) held a series of Kartini-themed competitions entitled Kartinian Riyoyo Kupatan at KBP Jl. Cakalang, Polowijen, Blimbing District, Malang City, Sunday (21/4/2024).
The initiator of KBP, Isa Wahyudi, said that this annual routine activity was held so that the younger generation would love culture and get to know their heroes. "There are many competitions held today, starting from the Kartini Paès Competition, Kartini Jarik Wearing Competition, Kartini Fashion Show Competition, Ketupat Making Competition, Kartini Riyoyo Kupatan event, and Kartini Dancing and Dolanan events," explained Ki Demang, as Isa is often called.
He revealed that this activity was also used as a moment for halalbihalal because it was still in the month of Syawal which was still in the atmosphere of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijriah. According to Javanese tradition, Ketupat Day (Lebaran Ketupat/Riyoyo Kupat) is held a week after Eid al-Fitr.
"Thankfully, the participants who attended were not only from Malang Raya, but also friends from various regions in Indonesia, from Jambi, Medan, East Kalimantan, NTT, Sulawesi and also Padang. This creates a stronger Indonesian nuance. Moreover, participants and visitors are asked to wear regional clothing to display the beauty of Indonesia's cultural diversity," he said.
Ki Demang hopes that this activity can provide inspiration that women have a very extraordinary role to advance the nation. "Kartini Day is a milestone where Indonesian women rose. Hopefully Indonesian women can continue to play a role in the progress of the nation, be it in the social, economic, cultural, educational, health and other fields.
