Malang City's Special Flavor Creation Competition Successfully Held

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – 35 culinary industry players from Malang City competed in their cooking skills in the Cipta Rasa Competition held in the front area of ​​Malang City Hall, Wednesday (24/4/2024). The Cipta Rasa Distinctive Competition of Malang City 'For the Archipelago & the World' is also one of a series of activities to enliven the 110th Anniversary of Malang City.

Not only to enliven the anniversary of Malang City, through this Cipta Rasa Competition, TP PKK Malang City collaborates with various parties to invite the people of Malang City to provide nutritious and delicious dishes for families. "TP PKK collaborates with the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Malang Branch, the Indonesian Chef Association Malang Raya to support the Malang City Government in efforts to handle stunting by serving nutritious food with local ingredients that are easy to find in Malang City," said Acting Chairperson of TP PKK Malang City Dra. Hj. Hanik Andriani Wahyu Hidayat.

"We hope that with this activity, Malang City's typical food ingredients, namely tempeh, tilapia fish, and butterfly pea flowers, can also be processed into attractive dishes and become mainstay menus in all hotels, restaurants, and catering in Malang City," continued Hanik.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Cipta Rasa Competition Committee, Arif Tri Sastyawan, S.STP, M.Si, said that this event was an effort to create a taste of snacks that would later be known by the public as a culinary icon typical of Malang City. Furthermore, Arif said that the winners would later be able to socialize how to process the three main ingredients in this competition to TP PKK members.

"So how to process good tilapia fish, process tempeh so that it has a high selling value, and also butterfly pea flowers so that they are not only drinks, but can be desserts or pastries that can also improve the economy in the sub-district and district. The recipes will be collected into one book that will be distributed to the sub-district/village PKK so that they can be replicated later," explained Arif.

As a follow-up to this activity, similar competitions will also be held at the sub-district and village levels so that the production of various culinary delights made from these three ingredients can also be developed by the community in the village.
"Regarding capital assistance, it has been considered by the relevant agency, namely Diskopindag. Disnaker PMPTSP will also hold training in order to support and follow up on this activity," he explained.

As is known, there are three main ingredients that must be used in this Cipta Rasa Competition, namely tempeh made from peanuts and soybeans, tilapia, and butterfly pea flowers. These three food ingredients are familiar to the people of Malang City. Tempeh is a typical food that is often a souvenir from Malang City. Even in this city there is a center for the tempeh industry, namely Sanan. Malang City, precisely in Bakalan Krajan Village, is an intensive center for tilapia cultivation using the biofloc system which is one of the Top 45 national innovations in 2021. Meanwhile, butterfly pea flowers are plants that are cultivated in many sub-districts of Malang City because they have various health benefits.

For the winner of the Cipta Rasa Competition this time, Hotel Aria Gajayana was chosen as the first winner, followed by Resto Arbanat, and Hotel Ibis Styles came out as the third winner. The competition assessment was carried out by competent judges, namely Pamungkas Suparno (Chairman of the Indonesian Chef Association Malang), Prof. Dr. Rina Rifqie Mariana, MP (Lecturer in Culinary Arts, State University of Malang), H. Mahmud Affandi, S.ST. (Nutrition Installation, Malang City Hospital Health), and Nia Irawati, A.Md (Food Security and Agriculture Service). Also present was Belinda Christina (Masterchef Indonesia 11 Champion) as a guest judge who also showed her skill in processing the three ingredients into a delicious and healthy dish. (ari/yon)
