Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government together with the East Java Provincial Transportation Agency (Dishub) is committed to optimizing the Hamid Rusdi Terminal located on Jl. Mayjen Sungkono, Kedungkandang District, Malang City. This was captured when the Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM and his staff reviewed the Hamid Rusdi Terminal together with the Head of the East Java Provincial Transportation Agency Dr. Nyono, ST, MT, Wednesday (1/5/2024).
In this review, the Acting Mayor of Malang discussed the Hamid Rusdi Terminal as a temporary shelter (relocation) if Pasar Gadang is revitalized. This is done as a follow-up to overcome the chaos of unresolved problems.
"Starting from the traffic jam in Pasar Gadang, the piles of garbage, potholes, and so on. The position of the Hamid Rusdi Terminal is not far, and so far this terminal has not had many transportation routes entering. This is an old problem and a solution must be found as soon as possible," said Wahyu.
That is why the Hamid Rusdi Terminal is one of the choices as a temporary shelter until Pasar Gadang is revitalized. To prevent congestion and chaos in Pasar Gadang, according to Wahyu, the alternative is that Pasar Gadang is temporarily moved to the Hamid Rusdi Terminal.
"Earlier we saw for ourselves at Pasar Gadang Bridge there were people parking while unloading goods, even though the road was already narrow. In a traffic jam, stopping to load and unload goods of course what arises is congestion. There are indeed officers who guard and remind. But in reality after the officers leave they are no longer orderly. The alternative is that we must sterilize the function of the road, we will move it," explained Wahyu.
Currently, Wahyu said that his party is conducting mapping, and in the future activities at Pasar Gadang, traders and loading and unloading processes will also be moved to the Hamid Rusdi Terminal. Regarding the existence of the terminal itself, it will also remain and become one unit with Pasar Gadang at the Hamid Rusdi Terminal, so there is a mutual symbiosis between the terminal and market traders.
"So the market with the Hamid Rusdi Terminal will have a route, and will be one unit, this way it can live. The market needs people to shop and the terminal route needs passengers, so there is a mutual symbiosis between traders and the terminal to be able to utilize the place. This will continue to be studied and discussed further, so that it can be realized as soon as possible," he explained further.
Wahyu said, currently it is still an initial discussion and later it will be discussed further and sit together. So that the Hamid Rusdi Terminal which is under the auspices of the East Java Province, how can it be utilized so that it can be used by the Malang City Government. "Of course there will be cooperation. We will study and there will also be stages to be able to quickly find solutions to the problems faced by the community that have occurred for a long time," concluded Wahyu.
Meanwhile, the Head of the East Java Provincial Transportation Agency, Dr. Nyono, ST, MT, said that he welcomed the plan of the Acting Mayor of Malang regarding the Hamid Rusdi Terminal, to collaborate to optimize the use of regional assets. "Earlier, there was an idea from the Acting Mayor of Malang to attract Pasar Gadang traders to the Hamid Rusdi Terminal, the goal is that this place can become a new place of activity that will later have many people here, and of course public transportation and public transportation can also come alive," explained Nyono.
This idea will be worked on in a marathon so that it can be realized as soon as possible, including in the future it can solve the problem so far, namely the reluctance of residents to enter the Hamid Rusdi Terminal due to congestion at Pasar Gadang. (cah/yon)
